Huawei Technologies Optical Access Platform with Distributed Architecture

Sept. 26, 2017

Huawei's distributed architecture optical access platform, the MA5800, was introduced to handle gigabit ultra-broadband services, converged FTTH and coax access and future SDN requirements.

The MA5800 is based on a distributed and open architecture, with fully programmable hardware and software that provides standard open interfaces such as NETCONF or OpenFlow. Huawei says its MA5800 brings a number of innovations to access networks, including elastic and future-proof bandwidth, smooth next-generation PON evolution, converged FTTH and coax access, OLT slicing for efficient multi-service access and open and rapid service provisioning capabilities.
