Ciena Waveserver Ai

Sept. 26, 2017

Waveserver Ai was designed to address evolving density and power requirements for ultra-high-capacity interconnect applications while offering a simple, server-like deployment and operational model.

Its density, scale and capacity per wavelength enable cable operators to reduce energy and transport costs and increase their competitive differentiation. Using coherent technology, Waveserver Ai delivers transport savings, bringing single-wavelength 400-Gbps connectivity to the industry for the first time, according to Ciena. Waveserver Ai doubles capacity for all applications, the company adds, supporting 200 Gbps for long haul and 300 Gbps for regional applications. Furthermore, its low power consumption enables Waveserver Ai to improve ongoing energy costs for cable operators and their networks. With its full suite of management interfaces and open APIs, Waveserver Ai is easy to operate and integrate into existing networks and facilitates mass deployment of on-demand cloud and high-capacity connectivity services, Ciena says. With Waveserver Ai, cable operators can more efficiently scale their networks, generate more revenue using a single compact platform and reduce transport costs on their high-capacity interconnect links, the company says.
