Midco has closed its previously announced acquisition of the WOW! cable TV system in the Lawrence, KS, area. The deal was first announced in October.

The acquisition will add 30,000 customers to Midco's current customer base of 350,000. Along with Lawrence, the system serves six surrounding communities: Basehor, Eudora, Lansing, Linwood, Piper and Tonganoxie. The acquisition includes residential and business telecommunication services and Channel 6, Lawrence's only local broadcaster.

"We look forward to serving Lawrence and its surrounding communities," said Pat McAdaragh, Midco president and CEO. "Midco is committed to providing excellent customer service and to bringing the latest technological advances to the Lawrence area. Just as in other areas we serve, we will be actively engaged in making these communities even stronger. We also pledge to be a valued employer. We welcome the new team members to our Midco family, and we're excited to win their support."

During a transitional period, WOW! will continue to provide the same services and day-to-day support via phone, from staff in the Lawrence office and through local field technicians, who install services and complete service calls. An operational transfer of services will be announced at a later date.
