According to a new report by the Dell'Oro Group, increasing subscriber bandwidth requirements drove cable operators to add DOCSIS 3.0 capacity and telecom service providers to accelerate new VDSL and PON network build-outs in the fourth quarter. The result was fourth quarter revenue for access equipment (cable + DSL + PON) including infrastructure equipment and CPE surging 10% sequentially and 9% over the year ago period. The report indicates that in the fourth quarter, Cisco was the lead CMTS vendor followed by ARRIS. For GPON, Huawei was the leader followed by Alcatel-Lucent.
