Intel Previews 1 Gig DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway

At the Cable Show, Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) previewed its first DOCSIS 3.0 cable gateway solution that is designed to be capable of 1 Gbps. The Intel Puma 6 achieves the 1 Gbps downstream speeds by bonding up to 24 DOCSIS channels and is designed for an upload speed of up to 240 Mps upstream (eight bonded channels).Intel's first DOCSIS 3.0 technology was the Puma 5, of which more than 20 million have shipped.
