TWC Ups Web Speeds, Certifies Retail Modems

Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) is boosting the maximum download speed for its Standard Internet service by 50% this month, from 10 Mbps to 15 Mbps, throughout the MSO's service area. Standard Internet customers will receive the faster speeds automatically this month, but can upgrade immediately by rebooting their modems.

In other Time Warner Cable news, the MSO has certified two Zoom Telephonics (OTCQB:ZMTP) retail cable modems for TWC's new "Buy Your Personal Internet Modem" program. The two modems are certified for all of TWC's Internet services. Both the Model 5350 and the model 5341J are DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems. The Model 5350 adds an integrated 300 Mbps wireless-N router, firewall security and a four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch. The modems are available at Best Buy, Micro Center, Office Depot, Staples and others.
