WDM Revenues to Reach $8 Billion this Year

According to the Dell’Oro Group, the total WDM market - comprising both metro and long-haul applications - grew 14% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2012 and is forecast to reach $8 billion for the full year. It is expected to climb further in 2013. In the year 2000, the WDM market peaked at $7.7 billion and then dropped to $1.8 billion.

As ranked by Dell'Oro, the top five WDM equipment manufacturers in Q3 were Huawei, Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent, Fujitsu and NEC, respectively.
