The new Enhanced Ethernet Muxponders (EMXP IIe) extend the company's Native Packet Optical 2.0 architecture. Like the original EMXP units, the EMXP IIe supports MPLS-TP, IGMPv3, and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-defined Carrier Ethernet 2.0 services. However, this most recent release adds optional OTN transport to all 10G ports. This provides the standard and enhanced forward error correction operators need to span longer links and integrate more tightly with OTN core networks. Additionally, increased switching capabilities make the units capable of handling the large number of services per device necessary for business Ethernet.
The NPO 2.0 is focused on providing transport applications with low latency and almost zero jitter, making it appropriate for migrating video distribution and mobile backhaul to a packet-optical architecture, Transmode says.www.transmode.comReturn to the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews Elite.
