As part of its ongoing TWC Maxx upgrade project, Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) has begun rolling out faster Internet speeds in the Triad area of North Carolina, with the first wave of customers now having access to speeds of up to 300 Mbps.

Starting this week, TWC Internet customers in Archdale, Asheboro and High Point will receive the faster Internet speeds as part of the first phase of the rollout. Customers on all six of TWC's Internet plans in the area are scheduled to get speed increases by the end of the summer.

Other elements of TWC Maxx, which was first announced in January 2014, include migration to all-digital video and network reliability upgrades. Some other North Carolina markets that have recently received the TWC Maxx treatment include Wilmington, the Triangle area and Charlotte.

Along with TWC Maxx, the MSO has rolled out more than 3,300 WiFi hotspots throughout the Triad, with more scheduled to be added through 2016.
