UK-based Virgin Media has announced the launch of Vivid 200 Mbps broadband speed. Vivid will be used to brand all broadband speeds and services of 100 Mbps and above from Virgin Media. Services, which are based on DOCSIS 3.0, are expected to be available Oct. 1. Virgin Media plans to make the new speed tiers available to 90% of its customers by the end of 2015.
Current broadband customers can upgrade from existing speeds of up to 50 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 152 Mbps to speeds of 70 Mbps, Vivid 150 Mbps and Vivid 200 Mbps. The company has also embarked on a £3 billion program to connect 4 million more homes and businesses.
