Technetix appoints new VP engineering and research chief

Technetix has further strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Johan van der Tang, who has been appointed as vice president, engineering, and who will now lead the company's group research and development organization.

Technetix (UK) today announced it has further strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Johan van der Tang, who has been appointed as vice president, engineering and is now heading up the company's group research and development function, according to a press release.

With technology solutions including its Distributed Gain Architecture, the DBT Gamechanger, the DBx Open Access Platform, Virtual Segmentation, Remote Optical Line Terminal (rOLT) and XGT taps, Technetix is a partner to leading broadband operators in 70 countries.

“Technetix is renowned as a technological leader in the broadband industry, the appointment of Johan to lead our research and development team and to become a member of the executive team will reinforce this. I am delighted that someone of his calibre has joined us,” commented Jan Ariesen, chief technology officer for Technetix.

van der Tang’s career commenced in 1995 at Philips Research in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, working on fiber-optic and satellite systems. He previously worked at Broadcom where he designed integrated circuits used for broadband cable DOCSIS modems and Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) capabilities in home networking data transceivers.

He then later worked for five years on ZigBee low power wireless transceivers for Qorvo. van der Tang then joined Dialog Semiconductors (now Renesas) Connectivity & Audio Business Division as a senior director for hardware engineering. At Dialog he led multi-disciplinary teams working on connected System on a Chip (SoC) design, digital signal processing (DSP) and system-level applications for customers located in the USA, Europe and Asia.

van der Tang holds a PhD degree in Electronical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, USA (IEEE) and has published over 50 IEEE papers, several engineering books and six patents.
