CableLabs' WiFi application software, co-developed with Cablevision (NYSE:CVC) and member companies, has been licensed to mPortal for further distribution to the cable industry. The software app is designed to measure the quality of experience cable subscribers have on cable WiFi networks and assist operators in directing their customers to locations where they can seamlessly connect to cable WiFi networks.CableLabs has licensed the app to mPortal, which will package the application technology in conjunction with its WiFi product suite. The software is designed for:
- WiFi detection to help customers find the best cable WiFi service near their current location
- Mapping of WiFi locations with the ability to view details on the performance level and quality of the WiFi access point
- WiFi testing services to determine the QoE and available bandwidth of the customer's current WiFi service
