Sunrise Telecom AT2500Plus CATV Spectrum Analyzer

Oct. 2, 2012
The Sunrise Telecom AT2500Plus system combines a spectrum analyzer and cloud-based realPOP (proof-of-performance) report generator to automate both analog and digital POP testing. An enhanced version of what one judge termed an "already excellent spectrum analyzer," the AT2500Plus' "primary" improvement is to measure MER to 43 dB. "This capability is difficult to do at the price point of a field analyzer and no doubt took a major design effort to accomplish," the judge said. He noted also that this resolution of MER should detect a quality degradation of QAM modulators and said, "Yes, I would like this analyzer in my tech's hands, and it can be valuable on the bench as well."
Another updated feature is one-button analog and digital POP testing. Accessed through a web browser, this capability allows for remote testing anytime, anywhere. The need for a thick client is eliminated, and multiple users can view the results. realPOP manages test results and creates reports, including headend, plant and 24-hour test data.In a real-world example of how the AT2500Plus can help reduce drive time and find anomalies before they impact QoE, one of Sunrise's customers reported that they were spending more than $1.6 million per year checking 70 headend and hub sites weekly. In this scenario, deploying the AT2500Plus and a few AT1602 switches could provide a payback in less than six months, Sunrise says. One tech would be able to run tests on all 70 sites in less than a day.www.sunrisetelecom.comSee them at Cable-Tec EXPO, Booth 2321Return to the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews Elite.
