S3 Group StormTest Decision Line

Oct. 2, 2012
The S3 Group StormTest Decision Line is designed to screen digital TV receiver devices. The industrial grade automated test solution offers OCR, image capture and image comparison, motion, and audio detection.
AV analysis algorithms and software-controllable custom AV switches allow for a programmable and scalable testing solution. These custom switches enable audio and video to be captured from all AV outputs of each device being tested.Test cycles can be changed without modification to the StormTest itself, which means they can be adapted to reflect changes to test processes or to support new models or software upgrades. Each automated system can test 16 devices simultaneously. One operator can execute the test, including device loading and unloading. The results are retained in a centralized StormTest database. A suite of test result analysis and metric reporting web tools help analyze current and historical result trends and patterns.Version 3.0 supports the retrieval of pre-defined diagnostic information via DOCSIS from the cable headend or from the device being tested. Companies testing set-top boxes will be able to use the resulting diagnostic information in the overall quality assessment criteria. One Diamonds judge praised these new capabilities of the StormTest, saying that S3 is "closing in on the issue of reducing the churn caused by re-cycling set-top boxes that have not been fully tested in a manual environment."www.s3group.com/tv-technologySee them at Cable-Tec EXPO, Booth 1641Return to the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews Elite.
