Edgeware Convoy VDN System

Judges Special RecognitionThe Edgeware Convoy VDN (video delivery network) System is one of the main components of Edgeware's distributed video delivery network architecture. With it, an operator can manage a retail-based video delivery network, offer wholesale video delivery to content providers and support advanced video services such as nPVR. As such, one judge reported that the solution could be "ideal" for small to midsize MSOs or service providers that would target small MSOs.
In the Convoy VDN, CDN management and video delivery systems are integrated, which enables video stream quality to be managed even in complex HTTP adaptive streaming environments. In other words, in conjunction with Edgeware's distributed video services, QoE metrics can be provided in real time even in sessionless protocols, like adaptive streaming. The operator, therefore, can create new revenue streams by offering QoE as a service to the content provider, Edgeware says.A lower priced basic version is what a single content provider would use to provide its own multiscreen service, whereas a multi-service advanced version is available to provide a wholesale CDN. Other key benefits include the combination of Web/IPTV operation, small management service overhead, statistics aggregation, load balancing and popularity measurements.www.edgeware.tvReturn to the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews Elite.
