At IBC 2012, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) plans to launch an HEVC/H.265 encoder for the delivery of live and linear TV over mobile networks, to mobile devices. The SVP 5500 HEVC encoder is designed for real-time encoding at resolutions up to HD.High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is intended to to reduce the bandwidth requirements for video delivery by more than 50% compared to H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.
