Thomson Intros Quad-Channel Encoder

Thomson Video Networks has launched a quad-channel multistandard version of its ViBE EM4000 MPEG encoder, intended to allow deployment of more HD and SD channels within bandwidth limits.The new encoder is designed to carry four channels within a 1RU chassis, with each channel consuming 70W of power. It also features the Thomson Mustang 2.0 encoding engine and can be configured as part of a statistical multiplexing system using Thomson's new Flextream 2.0 technology.It has HD, SD, MPEG-4 AVC, and MPEG-2 encoding capability and is designed to support multichannel audio compression; Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and AAC/HE-AAC; DVB subtitling from teletext input; and the ability to input from 3G sources.
