The San Mateo, CA, Chamber of Commerce and Comcast announced that work will soon start to upgrade the broadband network in San Mateo's downtown underground utility district. The project, dubbed "Digital Downtown," will use Comcast's business-class offerings, which will be delivered over a fiber backbone. The expansion aims for download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10 Mbps. Bandwidth up to 10 Gbps will be available for businesses with the largest data needs.
