Time Warner Cable's new TWCableTV app for the iPad experienced high consumer demand on Tuesday, its first day of release, ranking as the most frequently downloaded free app in the App Store. Demand was so strong that it overwhelmed the system, preventing some customers from downloading it Tuesday evening.TWC says it has temporarily reduced the number of channels available via the iPad app to 15, which helps to ease strain on the authentication process while the MSO works on a permanent fix. The full complement of 30 channels will be restored as quickly as possible and more channels will be added in future iterations.TWC is essentially calling the demand-induced crash a good problem to have.
