Cox Communications launched Cox Mobile Connect, an iPad, iPhone and Android app. It's designed to let Cox Advanced TV and Telephone customers control and manage their DVR and phone services. There was no mention of streaming video functionality in the press release announcing the app, and the MSO didn't reveal its specific plans around that. Customers can download the app for free at the Apple App Store or Android Market. Functions include:
- Scheduling recordings "on-the-fly," anytime, anywhere
- Viewing TV listings and home call logs
- Checking voice mail and managing home phone call settings remotely
- Help with common support issues
- Weather alerts and school closings
- Access to Cox's Facebook page
