Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) plans to trial 1 terabyte (TB) Internet data caps in several markets by June 1. The MSO says 99% of its Internet subscribers come nowhere close to using a terabyte (1 TB equals 1,000 GB) of data per month, and that the typical sub uses about 60 GB per month.

All of the data plans in Comcast's trial markets will move from a 300 GB data plan to 1 TB by June 1, regardless of speed tier. "Super users" who want more than a terabyte can sign up for an unlimited plan for an additional $50 a month, or they can purchase additional buckets of 50 GB of data for $10 each. The company will also continue to provide access to a data usage meter for all customers.
