GCI has signed a three-year Enterprise License Agreement with NCTI to train and develop its technicians. GCI's license consists of NCTI's networking courses and Master Technician curriculum, which includes NCTI's Installer course and various other courses intended for entry-level technicians up to service, line or plant maintenance technicians. In addition to the technical courses, GCI has selected NCTI's suite of Mentoring and Leadership courses to help sharpen employees' facilitation, problem-solving and management skills.
Courses are taught online through NCTI's proprietary learning management platform, Amp, while the learner dictates his or her own pace. NCTI will also work with GCI to develop and dispatch integrated career progressions to encourage students to work toward professional and educational goals.
"GCI spent a large portion of last year restructuring its training program, which included researching training organizations and soliciting feedback from employees," said Gary Gernstein, manager of Technical Training for GCI. "After careful consideration, we felt NCTI was the best choice as a strategic training partner. Our technicians are spread out over the entire state of Alaska, some in extreme rural areas where getting to a classroom to study, or study at pre-scheduled times, just isn't realistic. NCTI's accommodating and ease-of-use model ensures we are getting high-quality content delivered in a way that allows our employees to get meaningful training at a time/place that is convenient for them, their schedules and their location."

The program is expected to launch in early April beginning with onboarding sessions for trainers, managers and human resources personnel.
