Netcracker Technology has launched an enhancement of its BSS/OSS and customer engagement portfolio. Dubbed Netcracker 2020, the new platform aims to improve support for cloud-based networking, with improved support for automation and security as well as the ability of service providers to customize their implementations. It also offers better support for mobile services.

With cable MSOs moving gradually towards greater use of cloud-based networking, Netcracker 2020 is compatible with public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructures, says Ari Banerjee, vice president, strategy at Netcracker. The suite is based on open APIs and supports API management automation while conforming to a range of applicable standards from organizations such as ETSI, 3GPP, MEF, and TM Forum. This aspect, combined with a low code platform approach that supports Dev/Ops development practices, makes it straightforward for service provider IT teams to create extensions or other customizations, Banerjee points out. Netcracker also has established a short release schedule for updates that operators can quickly integrate into their implementations, he adds.

The company has partnered with such cloud providers as AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. To increase confidence in the use of these and other cloud services providers or models, Netcracker 2020 carries what Banerjee asserts is a robust security framework. Netcracker also has created a digital ecosystem of other partners to help enable operators access third-party functionality and services.

On the customer engagement end, Netcracker 2020 supports a mobile app designed to improve digital/mobile first customer experiences. The suite applies artificial intelligence capabilities to improve quality of experience across media and channels and promote personalization. Meanwhile, Netcracker has enhanced automation capabilities that improve service and network orchestration as well as lead-to-order orchestration. Enhanced professional services offerings help operators take advantage of the new features and capabilities.

Netcracker 2020 is available now and elements of it are being deployed by such service providers as Charter, Grupo in Chile, Vivo in Brazil, Rakutan, A1 Telecom Austria Group, Viasat, and Vodafone, among others.

“As BSS/OSS becomes increasingly critical to assure customer experience and enable security and flexible services, Netcracker has strengthened its position as the leader in helping service providers succeed in the highly competitive digital economy,” commented Sue Rudd, director, Networks and Service Platforms at Strategy Analytics via a Netcracker press release. “Netcracker 2020 offers service providers a highly automated, multi-vendor microservices based environment to address their customers’ dynamic digital needs and sets the benchmark for modern BSS/OSS to accelerate revenue-generating service delivery in today’s uncertain world.”
