RGB Networks Ad Insertion for Multi-bitrate (AIM) Solution

Oct. 2, 2012
The RGB Networks Ad Insertion for Multi-bitrate (AIM) Solution is billed as a way for operators to deliver "hyper-targeted" ads to smartphones, PCs, tablets, connected TVs and virtually any device used in a TV Everywhere platform. When combined with an ad decision system, AIM becomes part of an end-to-end addressable ad insertion solution for an HTTP streaming environment.
AIM actually is a subset of RGB's Enhanced Video Intelligence Architecture and not only enables ad insertion, but also program substitution and blackout applications, which earned it high praise from the Diamonds judges.Specific features of the AIM solution include:

  • Video Multiprocessing Gateway, which aligns ad and HTTP stream segment boundaries so ads are properly substituted

  • TransAct Packager, which packages H.264-encoded programs and ads into advanced bitrate protocols

  • AIM Playlist Server, which detects ad signals and pings the Ad Decision Service

  • AIM Workflow Engine for management of the other components

  • TransAct Transcoder for performing adaptive bitrate encoding of ads
