Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR) says its Spectrum Internet Gig was made available to another 1 million U.S. homes in December, making gigabit connections available across nearly all of its 41-state service area to 50 million locations so far.
Since introducing DOCSIS 3.1-based Spectrum Internet Gig on Oahu late last November, Spectrum has expanded gigabit availability to roughly 1 million homes and small and medium-sized business a week, on average.
Starting speeds of 100 Mbps are virtually everywhere Charter offers Spectrum Internet, with starting speeds of 200 Mbps in a growing number of cities. Spectrum Internet Ultra, with downstream speeds of at least 400 Mbps, is available throughout virtually our entire footprint. Spectrum Internet Assist, a low-income broadband program for $14.99 a month, is available to eligible families and seniors across Charter's footprint.
The service packages feature no modem fees, data caps or contracts.
Charter's Spectrum Internet Gig launched last November in Oahu, reached 22 million homes passed in April, added 4 million more by June, added another 6 million in August, and added another 12 million in October.
