Inca Networks says its family of hardware transcoders, the 4400 Modular Series and the 3840 Adaptive Bitrate Transcoder, have completed certification for Nielsen audio watermarking and ID3 tag creation.
Nielsen compiles audience data and measurements for all devices - including TV, audio, computers, tablets, smartphones - via which content is consumed. Nielsen uses a method of audio watermarking in TV broadcasts to track audience sizes for particular programs and advertisements. The measurements are combined to produce insights into how viewing habits and retail spending are connected.
The Inca 4400 Modular Series and the 3840 Adaptive Bitrate Transcoder are now able to extract the Nielsen watermark from Dolby AC-3 source audio streams and output ID3 data tags prepared for online streaming. This is done via Inca's user interface (UI) VidiOS, a management and monitoring tool.
