AFL 90R Mass Fusion Splicing Kit - 4 Diamonds

Sept. 29, 2020
For mass fusion splicers, the splice time required after ribbon fibers have been prepared and loaded into the splicer has decreased to the point that it is difficult to achieve continued reductions in splice cycle time. Therefore, innovative approaches are required for a new generation of fusion splicers. AFL’s 90R Mass Fusion Splicing Kit addresses these new approaches with splicer communication/preparation equipment, automated operation of transition steps and splice downtime reductions. Rather than focusing only on the time to splice the ribbon once loaded into the machine, the entire splicing process has been evaluated and enhanced.

Judge’s Comment: “Important enhancement to the splicing process. The ability to manage the process beyond the burn is a fantastic productivity enhancement and cost saver.”
