The Guru monitors video quality for all resolutions and all bitrates in real time without the need for additional equipment. It can control and monitor all headend components delivering video services over various networks simultaneously. Automated configuration, backup and restore tools, and redundancy schemes help to maximize video headend availability and reliability.
The Diamonds judges praised the Envivio Guru for the level of simplicity it provides over other solutions. They particularly liked that the automated applications are at the service level and not at the individual device. With Guru Service Scheduling, for example, operators can schedule features such as blackout, logo insertion, and live-to-file recording from Guru's user interface or programmatic APIs, by selecting channels or services instead of devices.
Guru nodes can be clustered for larger system deployments and monitored in a single view. The SSC feature makes the management system the central point of configuration and control of operator services. And it extends the control board by enabling operators to perform automation and orchestration at the service level. The device components are abstracted over the video chain.
