ComSonics says its new QAM Shadow completes the DDF leakage detection arsenal to give cable operators the complete set of tools they need to proactively manage leaks and ensure "no leaks are left behind." The small form factor device includes integrated near-field antennas for both UHF and VHF in order to detect leakage across both. It continuously monitors both frequency bands over the span of the work day.
Since the device maintains the same look, feel and basic operation as the previous generation of devices, it is easy to use by technicians and requires no training, said one Diamonds judge. Another applauded the QAM Shadow for its effort to ensure installers and dwelling service techs are equipped to find and fix "any and all" ingress/egress impairments in the digital home network. The dual frequency band covers both the FAA and LTE bands to prevent unwanted interference and to maintain FCC compliance.
