The DR3450N is the newest addition by Aurora Networks - a Pace Company - to its Universal Digital Return family. It can support up to 100 MHz return bandwidth. Operators can choose 50 MHz today, for example, and transform the product to support 85 MHz (or higher) tomorrow, in order to transition to a higher return split and more return capacity. No "rip and replace" is needed.
The unit can function as a "1-fer" return with one return segment or a "2-fer" return, with two return segments. This allows an operator to double upstream bandwidth by going from one segment to two per upstream wavelength without replacing the return receiver.

The DR3450N also supports return path daisy-chaining. In other words, the return paths from multiple nodes can be linked and the return bandwidth shared across them. The result, Aurora says, is an upfront capex savings because the number of receivers and their associated space and powering requirements are reduced.
