The UniPHY converged services platform from Aurora Networks - a Pace Company - addresses operators' needs to unify ongoing bandwidth capacity growth without requiring protocol-related or physical-layer-related service silos. Aurora says this underlying commonality enables operators to use a single platform to support success-based spending, regardless of the services that drive growth.
The base UniPHY platform has a multi-terabit backplane and serves as a high-performance aggregation service. It can be configured with options from Aurora's family of solutions, including Remote PHY, distributed broadband access architecture and Unified PON portfolio products, including DPoE, 10G-EPON, GPON, and Node PON.

The application interface modules provide on-board switching and network uplinks to connect directly upstream to network services within the UniPHY platform form factors. This eliminates the need for external switching equipment. Other benefits, according to Aurora: better fiber performance with more wavelengths and no distance limits, no AM fiber signal losses, better spectral efficiency, wider frequency band, "set and forget" plant levels, targeted functionality, and a smaller environmental headend footprint.
