The ARRIS Media Streamer 4000 (MS4000) is a multiscreen media streaming device that empowers service providers to offer live and recorded content for a multiscreen experience. It is powered by Sling Media place-shifting technology, is a companion device to the MG5000 Media Gateway, and will be available to all service providers deploying the ARRIS Whole Home Solution.
Studies indicate that recorded TV content accounts for 33% of total TV viewing, but for many consumers, finding time to watch what they recorded at home is a challenge. They are increasingly interested in services that automatically load content to tablets or smartphones. ARRIS says that with its MS4000, operators can deliver these multiscreen services without the need for costly network and system overhauls.

Specifically, the product allows in-home streaming via WiFi and supports remote streaming using cellular and WiFi networks. It can transcode four full HD video streams simultaneously and supports a Gigabit Ethernet connection to the MG5000 gateway for WiFi and DVR functionality. And it has digital rights management to support both linear and DVR broadcasts.
