The SCTE has approved SCTE 241 2017, "Key Performance Metrics: Energy Efficiency & Functional Density of WiFi Infrastructure Equipment." The document is the next in a series intended to provide cable operators with a standard reference to determine how well a piece of equipment performs in terms of minimizing the power required to do its particular job. In addition, the standard provides the means to quantify the amount of useful work the equipment provides per physical space. This part of the series focuses on WiFi equipment serving the cable industry, including WiFi controllers, access points (APs) and gateway servers.
