Rogers Communications (TSX:RCI.A) is bringing low-cost Internet service to 12,000 low-income housing tenants in the Waterloo Region of southern Ontario via the MSO's Connected for Success program.

The Region of Waterloo is the 190th housing provider to partner with Rogers on Connected for Success since the program's inception in 2013. To date, more than 15,000 households across Rogers' cable footprint in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland have signed up for the program.

"It is our goal at Rogers to connect communities and make it easier for all Canadians to fully participate in the digital economy," said Peter King, senior director of corporate social responsibility at Rogers. "Rogers is committed to supporting Waterloo Region's vibrant, growing community by providing a low-cost solution that connects residents to the vital services and tools that are crucial to success in today's digital world."

Connected for Success is $9.99 a month and requires no contract or credit checks upon signup, and includes speeds of up to 10 Mbps downstream and up to 1 Mbps upstream. Rogers also offers Internet 5, a low-cost service for $32.99 a month, available to anyone within Rogers' Internet service area; modem rental of $8 a month is extra.
