Alpha Technologies AlphaGateway BSC

Sept. 26, 2017

The AlphaGateway BSC employs a hardened DOCSIS 3.1 modem along with enhanced power transformation technology.

The two-part mix is required to meet the high power, high bandwidth needs of small cells. The device powers directly from the HFC coax power, and then transforms and "cleans" the power to provide both robust power (300 W total) and back-haul (1 Gbps) for up to four small cell connections. As with the SMG, the SCG connects onto the HFC network through power-passing taps, significantly lowering the total cost of ownership versus the traditional small cell approaches in terms of real estate, power and back-haul, Alpha says.
