Vecima Networks (TSX:VCM) has launched its Terrace DVB Commercial Video Gateway for the global market at ANGA COM 2017.

Terrace DVB, which is designed to provide both SD and HD video programming in the same chassis, is a product line extension of the company's Terrace QAM platform. The Terrace DVB is designed to provide HD programming for business-to-business commercial video applications in hospitality, MDUs and other commercial environments. It's intended to enable DVB cable operators to service their commercial accounts by providing bulk digital services, and to support analog reclamation.

In other Vecima news from ANGA, the company has introduced the Entra Access Switch, which is designed to extend the capacity of networks with insufficient fibers while minimizing the use of expensive digital optics. The switch is intended for short run fiber extensions, deep fiber deployments, and DOCSIS 3.1 node aggregations. The outdoor centrally managed eight-port x 10GigE network switch is designed to support Carrier Ethernet services and is strand mountable.

"In terms of customer reach and use, the capabilities of the Entra Access Switch are quite broad," said Sumit Kumar, Vecima's president and CEO. "We're seeing several use cases emerging, many of which are tied to fiber savings, fiber-to-commercial premises, and empowering distributed access where using the Entra Access Switch to feed DOCSIS nodes deeper in the network is an elegant approach."
