Danish TV and Internet service provider Stofa has selected technologies from ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) and Teleste for a network upgrade to support gigabit broadband speeds and new services including future UltraHD video channels, streaming and digital services.

The headend-to-home upgrade involves a technology migration across all Stofa's sites in Denmark to DOCSIS 3.1 and remote PHY-based distributed architecture. ARRIS is providing its E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER) and NC2000 nodes with remote PHY, as well as Performance Management and Alarm Central from its ServAssure suite. Teleste is providing network planning services as well as amplifiers and RF passives.

"We looked at ARRIS to implement a cutting-edge network solution, quickly and at scale," said Ole Fruekilde, CEO at Stofa. "ARRIS's global leadership gives us the confidence to entrust them to empower our network with ARRIS's state-of-the-art R-PHY D3.1 next generation solution. Together, we're deploying a solution that will enable us to give our customers the fastest speeds and latest entertainment experiences while maintaining our strong position in the Danish market for years to come."

Teleste and Stofa have cooperated on products for some time, and this deal is an extension of that relationship. The value of the 2-year agreement is expected to exceed EUR 7 million.

Fruekilde said, "Working with Teleste, we have been able to improve the reliability of our network during the past years; and now, we are pleased to continue our previous cooperation in upgrading our network to meet the growing capacity requirements for years to come."

Stofa provides electricity, energy optimization, broadband fiber and cable TV to more than 700,000 consumers.
