At CES 2017 in Las Vegas, NETGEAR (NASDAQ:NTGR) has introduced two Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA)-approved retail modems, one in DOCSIS 3.0 and the other in DOCSIS 3.1.

The CM1000 Ultra High Speed Cable Modem is the 3.1 version and can be used by Comcast residential subscribers for gigabit Internet services where Comcast has rolled out DOCSIS 3.1, including Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit and Miami. Comcast plans to bring DOCSIS 3.1-based gigabit Internet speeds to more markets in coming months.

"It is a pleasure to be a part of Comcast's rollout of the world's first DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit cable Internet service. This truly marks the dawn of a new era for fast cable Internet services into the home," said David Henry, senior vice president of Home Networking Products for NETGEAR. "It is thrilling to be part of writing this new page of Internet history and provide Comcast subscribers with the equipment they will need to fully utilize the new Gigabit connectivity. The CM1000 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem is designed to deliver the latest in connectivity for the new connected home."

NETGEAR's Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router (C7100V) incorporates a DOCSIS 3.0 modem as well as 802.11AC WiFi and an EMTA for voice service. It supports 24x8 channel bonding for speeds up to 960 Mbps. Nighthawk C7100V is designed to automatically prioritize voice traffic. It has two integrated telephone lines with optional battery backup capabilities, and support for three-way conferencing, caller ID, and call forwarding.

"We are proud to introduce another member to our growing cable product portfolio to meet the needs of double and triple-play customers of Comcast Xfinity Voice services. This is not only the first AC cable modem router for Comcast Xfinity Voice services, but also integrates AC1900 WiFi for fast WiFi connectivity with 24-channel bonding to support the highest levels of Xfinity Internet services for DOCSIS 3.0." said Sandeep Harpalani, senior director of product marketing for NETGEAR Home Networking.

The C7100V is expected to be available later this year at an MSRP of $299.99.
