At Convergence India 2017, Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT) will demonstrate its OTT and UltraHD video solutions. Specific products being highlighted will include the EyeQ compression, VOS Cloud media processing, Spectrum XE playout system and CableOS software-based CCAP.

"The India pay TV market is poised for significant growth, with Frost & Sullivan reporting that at least 30% of TV households will have access to OTT through their television sets," said Tony Berthaud, Harmonic's vice president, sales, Asia-Pacific. "At Convergence India, we will showcase how service providers can take advantage of these amazing growth opportunities, launching broadcast and OTT services ahead of the competition, with better video quality and at lower costs."

The EyeQ real-time video compression optimization solution is designed for bandwidth reduction of up to 50% for OTT distribution. It utilizes the AVC codec, so there is no need to upgrade existing client devices. An optional upgrade for the software-based Harmonic PURE Compression Engine, EyeQ is intended to improve video quality and reduce buffering.

Harmonic's VOS Cloud media processing platform and VOS 360 professional cloud media processing service are designed to generate instant revenue and reduce CAPEX for broadcast and OTT applications. The cloud-native media processing solutions are intended to allow service providers to manage video production and delivery workflow, from ingest to delivery, over public or private clouds.

The Spectrum XE playout system combines a channel-in-a-box (CiaB) system with a software encoder for HD/SD broadcast and multiscreen channel origination and manipulation. It's intended for regionalizing downstream programs with ad replacement and branding. Additionally, Spectrum XE offers CiaB features to control and deliver new channels, including multichannel playout, built-in automation and asset management.

The company's CableOS software-based CCAP solution is designed to enable the migration to gigabit capacity and resolve space and power constraints in the headend and hub, and to support IP-based data, video and voice services. CableOS Core CMTS software runs on 1RU COTS Intel processor-based servers in a headend, hub or data center.
