Nokia (NYSE:NOK) announced the launch of its Gigabit Smart Build portfolio for service providers. The portfolio consists of a set of services, processes and automated tools to help service providers design, plan, build and operate 1 Gbps and faster broadband networks.

The portfolio is intended to reduce rollout errors and time-to-market, as well as improve return on investment (ROI). Gigabit Smart Build applies a three-step approach to address specific pain points while planning, deploying and operationalizing.

  • Preparing for Gigabit: Nokia Bell Labs' patented Business and Technology Modeling tools are intended to help build viable and accurate business cases and select the right technology and strategy to move to gigabit.
  • Deploying Gigabit: The Network Build Control Management service is intended to control and automate end-to-end network rollout. The company offers a complementary ONT Easy Start solution, launched last year, which is designed to allow end-users to activate the optical network terminal themselves to reduce installation and activation costs.
  • Managing and Optimizing Gigabit: Patented methodologies and tools are intended to speed up and simplify migration of legacy broadband networks. The company's Network Assessment & Health Check tool analyzes big data to provide insight into network performance and capacity management.
