The NCTA and its board of directors have decided to sunset their annual trade show, INTX: The Internet & Television Expo. The INTX event previously scheduled for April 2017 in Washington, DC, will not take place. The NCTA has hosted a trade show for 65 years.

In a blog post, NCTA President and CEO Michael Powell wrote: "We are now exploring new and better ways to tell our story, to gather our community, to advance our growth and present our vision of the future. We believe large trade show floors, dotted with exhibit booths and stilted schedules, have become an anachronism. Contemporary venues emphasize conversation, dialog, and more intimate opportunities to explore and interact with technology."

Though the NCTA does not customarily release attendance figures for its shows, a decline in attendance at INTX and its forerunner, the Cable Show, had been evident for some years. In recent years, the show featured a greater tech presence as programmer participation declined.
