Cable ONE (NYSE:CABO) has launched its gigabit Internet service, GigaONE, in Cottonwood and Clarkdale, AZ. The 1 Gbps service is expected to be available to the majority of Cable ONE customers by the end of 2016.

Cable ONE says it has invested more than $500 million over the past five years on network upgrades and enhancements in order to bring the latest technology and fastest speeds to its customers.

"Unlike many of our competitors, Gigabit service will be available to all of our customers - not just a select few in certain areas," said Joe Felbab, vice president of marketing for Cable ONE. "We've been committed for decades to serving smaller cities and towns, and we are delighted to provide them with the latest technology to make them Gigabit cities in 2016," Felbab said.

"Our extensive fiber network deployment and continued investment in improving and expanding our network enables us to offer the fastest, most reliable Internet connections at the best value, while contributing to the economic development of the communities we serve," Felbab said.

Cable ONE first announced gigabit plans for 200 of its markets last November. The service is based on DOCSIS 3.0 over the existing HFC plant. The company is also building a gigabit-capable FTTH network in Gautier, MS, which is expected to be completed in October.
