AT&T (NYSE:T) is expanding the availability of its gigabit Internet service to more locations in southern Dallas. The company's fiber-based 1 Gbps GigaPower service is now available to homes, apartments and small businesses in southern Dallas, the area primarily south of the Trinity River and Highway 30.

The telco says it plans to nearly double the availability of GigaPower in southern Dallas in the next 12 months. Apartment complexes already connected to the network in southern Dallas include Alta Yorktown and Alta West Commerce Apartments.

AT&T GigaPower starts at $110 a month and can be bundled with the company's voice service and video from either DirecTV or U-verse TV.

AT&T gigabit service is available in parts of several Dallas-Fort Worth-area cities, including Allen, Arlington, Burleson, Cedar Hill, Cleburne, Colleyville, Dallas, DeSoto, Euless, Fairview, Fate, Farmers Branch, Forney, Fort Worth, Frisco, Granbury, Grand Prairie, Highland Park, Irving, Joshua, Keene, Keller, Lakeside, Little Elm, Mansfield, McKinney, Mesquite, North Richland Hills, Plano, Richardson, Rockwall, The Colony, Trophy Club, University Park, Weatherford, Willow Park and surrounding communities.

AT&T says GigaPower is currently available in more than 1.6 million locations in parts of 22 metro areas. The company plans to expand its availability to parts of 34 more metro areas, with the goal of reaching more than 14 million residential and commercial locations with fiber.
