Cox Communications has launched its gigabit Internet service for residential customers in middle Georgia. The MSO's G1GABLAST service is making its Georgia debut in the Tiffany Kensington subdivision in Houston County. It's also available at South Bend in Bonaire, and is scheduled to be available at additional properties in the near future.

Cox plans to have residential gigabit speeds available in all of its markets by the end of 2016. The company has already launched its RFoG-based G1GABLAST service in parts of the Phoenix and Orange County, CA, as well as Las Vegas, Baton Rouge and Omaha.

Cox is also increasing the speeds of its Premiere and Ultimate high-speed Internet packages. Cox Ultimate's maximum downstream speeds are increasing from 200 Mbps to 300 Mbps, and Premiere is going from 100 to 150 Mbps.
