Hitron Technologies Americas is demonstrating CODA, its first Intel (NASDAQ:INTC)-based DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in New Orleans.

Utilizing the Intel Puma 7 SoC, Hitron's CODA is intended to support downstream speeds up to 5 Gbps and upstream speeds of 1 Gbps. It's also designed to help reduce power usage and lower the cable operator's carbon footprint. The DOCSIS 3.1 Puma 7 SoC dual-core Intel Atom processor is designed to provide packet acceleration, support for third party 4x4 MIMO WiFi, and voice recognition modules.
