The FIP-435B Fiber Inspection Probe is designed to remove the last human variable from fiber inspection and analysis. It automatically focuses and centers on the connector independently of the user. It also takes into account new applications like fiber-to-the-antenna, which involves the installation of high-precision optical gear at the top of towers. It is difficult for climbers to use one hand to focus a probe and a video screen. A pass/fail LED on top of the probe eliminates the need to consult data displayed on the screen. Wireless capability with smart devices saves data to a smartphone kept in the technician's pocket. These innovations enable a technician to perform tests single-handedly, keeping safety in mind, and also reduce the amount of gear needed, which is more cost-effective, EXFO says.
