The Deluxe OnDemand OneWorkflow for 4K/UltraHD is a managed, cloud-based end-to-end workflow solution that enables cable companies to support 4K UltraHD without incurring upfront infrastructure and staffing costs. New services can be monetized in 60 days as evidenced by a North American tier 1 MSO, which selected OneWorkflow for deployment of 4K, the company says.
Deluxe OnDemand also points out that encoders represent only a small percentage of the workflow required to support 4K. Greater than 2 Gbps masters are needed to achieve the highest quality HEVC encodes, while 700 Mbps 1080p ProRes mezzanines can be used as a source if the title must be more affordable. Typical HD back office workflows, however, are meant for 15 Mbps or 30 Mbps. The compression, processing, storage and bandwidth impact is significant. OneWorkflow addresses all workflow requirements and incorporates the ability to work with all source material, Deluxe OnDemand says.
