The ARRIS ME-7000 is a single, converged video compression and multiplexing platform. It provides multi-codec support with SD/HD/UltraHD encoding and transcoding plus multiscreen delivery and statistical multiplexing for IPTV over broadband cable and cable applications. ASIC-based compression technologies combined with a distributed software architecture allow for a future-proof, modular design that supports rapid innovation, ARRIS says. Programmable silicon designed for multi-codec compression improves video compression efficiency and lets operators and programmers deliver a better experience to viewers.
The ME-7000 is available in a 1RU package with three application module slots that allow encoding, transcoding and multi-bitrate functions to scale from small to large systems. The unit comes standard with six Gigabit Ethernet ports and four 1GB/10GB ports for input/output and management control. There is an option for up to 24 SD/HD-SDI uncompressed inputs. The platform can support up to 24 HD HEVC channels or 12 4Kp60 channels using under 20 watts per HD or 40 watts per 4K channel.
