The DM3.0 Integrated DOCSIS Management Hub serves four functions. It is an embedded power supply transponder, an integrated power manager, an HFC backhaul gateway, and a network test probe.
As an embedded power supply transponder, the DM3.0 supports all appropriate standards and features for broadband power monitoring and emergency backup response.

Serving as an integrated power manager, the DM3.0 provides real-time and historic status of the AC power grid, the UPS backup batteries, portable or curbside generators, and other equipment. Acting as an HFC backhaul gateway, the DM3.0 turns any power supply location into a network gateway that can provide 1 Gbps Ethernet access to the network. This means distributed equipment like WiFi access points, 4G small cells, and security cameras can have broadband access directly at the power supply physical network point of presence.

Finally, operating as a network test probe, the DM3.0 supports an array of diagnostics tools to help troubleshoot HFC network performance. It offers constellation diagrams representing downstream network quality, micro-reflection and group delay graphs for discovering upstream network impediments, a spectral capture function, and a spectral auto-ranging alarm.
